BLACK AIDS INSTITUTE AND NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF BLACK JOURNALISTS FORM YEAR-LONG PARTNERSHIP TO RAISE AWARENESS OF HIV/AIDS IN BLACK COMMUNITY

Free HIV testing to take place at Healthy NABJ Pavilion during NABJ National Conference

WHAT: Press conference to announce a year-long partnership between the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and the Black AIDS Institute to promote HIV awareness in Black communities starting with free HIV testing at the NABJ Convention. Acclaimed actress Regina King will be on hand to encourage people to get tested.

Because of the devastating impact HIV/AIDS has had on the Black Community, the NABJ has joined the Black AIDS Institute’s Test 1 Million campaign. The partnership will encourage NABJ members to cover local testing events in their communities and to be role models by publicly getting tested.

The Test 1 Million (T1M) movement is a call-to action for one million Black Americans to get tested for HIV. NABJ has joined the movement, in hopes of reducing HIV incidence in Black America by increasing the number of Black Americans who know their HIV status.
