Beverly Burgess, M.Ed
Senior Prevention and Care Manager
Beverly Burgess is on a mission to end health disparities in the African American community through collaboration, political advocacy, and community engagement. She is the Prevention and Care Manager at the Black AIDS Institute (BAI)and is responsible for the social services’ programming that aims to prevent HIV acquisition and provide support for those living with HIV. Her goal is to provide forward-thinking, and effective program and behavioral intervention strategies to impact all under-served Black populations.
Ms. Burgess received dual BA degrees from Clark Atlanta University in Mass Media Arts and History and an MEd in Community Health Promotion from Cleveland State University. She previously spent years in Cleveland, OH as a Director at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Cleveland and Care Alliance Health Clinic. She recently returned to her hometown, Los Angeles, CA, and serves as a member of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) where she develops community health programs directly impacting South Los Angeles.
Beverly Burgess is also a Certified Yoga Instructor specializing in Community Yoga, meditation, and pranayama(breathing exercises), intentionally making space for Black people to breathe easy.
