Revolution in Color (Rev in Color) is the umbrella term for the Black AIDS Institute’s social support system and programs for the Black queer community in Los Angeles. It is founded upon the strength of brotherhood among young, Black, gay and bisexual men. Through outreach and events, RevInColor looks at risk reduction and HIV prevention from a social point of view This programming is especially important at a time when LA is a priority jurisdiction for the federal government’s ‘Ending the HIV Epidemic in the U.S.’ initiative.

Rev in Color focuses on personal goal setting, life skills and planning, and social experiences and events to mobilize young Black gay and bisexual men to shape a healthy community for themselves, build positive social connections, and support their friends to have safer sex and healthier relationships. Topics include dating, sexual health, mental health, social media, and ways to protect and maintain your health, particularly during the COVID-19 period. 

The program approaches health education and social support groups with sex-positive education, community, self-development, and content creation. We achieve this through 2 initiatives serving the Black, LGBTQ, and HIV community: 

 1. Digital Health Promoters

DHPs are advocates for Black gay/bi men who are passionate about disseminating content and resources around sexual health and reducing the risk of HIV transmission in our communities through social networking platforms.

The DHP program includes virtual training with a $100 incentive and an opportunity to make $250/month. 

2. Youth Popular Opinion Leaders

POLs are Black queer youth ages 13-18 who encourage safer sex norms within their sexual networks through risk reduction conversations and content creation. The Youth POL program includes a series of virtual trainings and a $100/month incentive.
