This week we continue to salute Black transwomen who are making a major impact around the nation with Part 2 of our series “10 Black Transgender Women to Watch”.

As part of our Brown Bag Lunch series, we ran a webinar about the HIV treatment cascade. Dr. Derrick Butler, associate medical director and HIV specialist at T.H.E. (To Help Everyone) Clinic in Los Angeles brings us up to speed, as journalist Tamara Holmes reports.

We run highlights from the first day of CROI, courtesy of our friends at HIV.gov, where we BAI announced its new Black Women and PrEP Tool Kit. (If you missed last week’s story about the women’s initiatives the Institute will roll out this year, click here.) The popularity of the Affordable Care Act continues to grow, even as the Trump administration and Congressional Republicans begin to dismantle it. Our friends at Kaiser Health News report on the status of the ACA and interview FDA Commissioner Scott Gottlieb, who claimed that the agency will get a handle on high drug prices. We’ll see….

Yours in the struggle,

Phill
